Visiting A Patient

Royal Hospital welcomes families, and visitors to our hospital. We want everyone to be safe and comfortable during their visit.

We have adjusted our guidelines for visitors. As the COVID-19 pandemic lapsed and with new cases emerging in the future, Royal Hospital may need to make further changes to protect our patients, health care teams and the public.

Guidelines At A Glance

At Royal Hospital, we understand the importance of family and friends in a patient's recovery journey. To ensure a peaceful and supportive environment for all, we’ve created simple visitor guidelines for you to follow.

General

  • Health and safety: All visitors must follow health protocols, including sanitizing hands and wearing a mask if required.
  • Quiet Zones: Silent Hospitals help healing... We therefore request that visitors help in maintaining this.

Expanded Visitor Access

    • Patients can have visitors between 3pm and 4pm, 7pm and 8pm daily according to their preference, with two visitors at the bed side at a time to maintain physical distancing.
    • To support families, children under 12 are excluded from this limit. Children must be accompanied by an adult who is not a patient and wear a mask provided by Royal Hospital.
    • Visits with patients admitted to an isolation(private) ward may be considered. Speak with our nurses and/or social worker team.
    • Family members can accompany the patients to the ward upon admission, with a limit of 2 family members per patient. There after the patient will need to be assessed by the team.
    • To ensure everyone's safety and comfort, our team may make exceptions to the above.
    • Copies of medical aid cards and identity documents are required on admission, where necessary documentation will be signed.

On the Day of Your Visit

  • Bring your ID, medical aid card, and any relevant medical records(scans and blood results) or referral letters.
  • Pack toiletries such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, and other personal hygiene products.
  • Include loose, comfortable clothing and a sturdy pair of slippers or shoes.
  • Expect a post-discharge call from our team, requesting feedback on your past stay at Royal Hospital.
  • Books, magazines, or electronic devices to help pass the time during recovery.
  • You will receive a Discharge report from our administrative team.
  • You will also receive a phone call from our team, to evaluate the care received and progress made.
